Thursday, 6 March. Magnetometry Survey of Lower Pond area

RESULTS (survey 6 March 2008)
Thank you to everyone who assisted with this survey.

We intend to carry out a magnetometry survey of the lower pond area (approximate grid ref. 398380, 388750). Anyone interested in assisting will be welcome.
Meet at the Mellor Church Car Park, 10 am. We expect to be on site about 4 hours, and then to move to the Conservatory at the Old Vicarage to eat lunch and process the survey data. Finish, we hope, by about 3 pm.
Wear warm clothes, and if you want to assist with the magnetometer itself, ensure that your footwear is non-magnetic (as discussed at the Meeting on Saturday last). Bring lunch and a hot drink if you wish.

Saturday, 1 March. Parish Centre, 10 am
Meeting and initial training session for the Geophysics Volunteer Group. Coffee/tea will be available.
The initial meeting is expected to last about 2 hours. The room is available until 2 pm - bring lunch if you wish. Given reasonable weather, we shall spend the afternoon in the field surveying an area by magnetometry, so if you are able to stay on for this, bring warm clothes and boots (note that to carry out magnetometry, you need to ensure your boots do not have steel toe-caps or steel eyelets - wellington boots are best).
